WIFE of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has called on Nigerian youths to imbibe the virtue of hard work and obedience, describing such as the foundation for nation building.
She gave the advise when she hosted children from different parts of the country in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to a dinner party, to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration, at the Banquet Hall of the presidential villa, Abuja.
She also noted that, despite her present status as mother of the nation, she still cooks her husband’s meal personally.
To give vent to her claim, Mrs. Buhari excused herself half way in course of the party, saying she needed to go home and prepare dinner for her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I’m going to leave you soon. I want to go back home to cook for my husband because my children are here playing with you. Nobody is at home, only my husband. So, I want to go back home to be with him and also cook dinner for him,” the president’s wife said.
Rather than maintaining the office and engage herself on pet projects that keeps her away from her husband, given her present status, Mrs. Buhari chose not to be addressed as First Lady of Nigeria when her husband assumed office as president.
Speaking further at the event, which attracted a large number of children and their parents, the president’s wife asked the children to be thankful to God that they were celebrating the Sallah with her, unlike many other less privileged children out there without the necessary things of life to cater for themselves.
She noted that the Sallah party organised by her, among other reasons, underscored the importance the present administration attaches to the welfare, protection and development of Nigerian children.
Mrs. Buhari said, “On occasions like this, we celebrate with Nigerian children, especially the less privileged, including those in the various internally displaced persons’ (IDPs) camp. We love, appreciate and share with their present situation.
