In the race for faster growth, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is also trying to catch up with Marriott/Starwood. A Milestone for IHG was the recent opening of the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York increasing the number of opened hotels to 5000 worldwide. More than 300 new properties are also in the pipeline, reported TOPHOTELPROJECTS, the worldwide leading provider for global b2b hotel data.
Twelve years ago, IHG was operating 3,500 properties. With this latest milestone innovative hotel concepts will be established:
• Even Hotel New York – Times Square South (150 Zimmer)
• Hualuxe Haikou Seaview (China)
• Holiday Inn Express New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3 (93 Zimmer)
• InterContinental London – The O2 (453 Zimmer)
Due to the takeover of Starwood Hotels, Marriott International is now in a leading position, but IHG’s previous milestones are demonstrating the force with which IHG will further expand its portfolio: especially in China the company is planning to increase its presence. 200 houses are currently operational in the Middle Kingdom, among others also the Hualuxe brand, designed especially for Chinese guests.
