Locals pushing a vehicle at the end of stage 2 (between Kilifi and Malindi). Several vehicles had gone through but the road kept welling up with water. Soon, the water level reached the windscreen level. Two vehicles got stuck and had to be pushed out, while the other drivers who hadn't gone through refused to drive on.
The East Africa Classic Rally edition was cancelled on Thursday at stage three as roads were washed away.

At stage two, between Kilifi and Malindi, the road has started becoming bad with two vehicles being pushed out of the mud.

Several cars had gone through but the water kept welling up forcing some drivers to refuse going through.

This prompted the clerk and other officials to cancel stage three.

However, Vivo energy Kenya marketing manager Mark Senteu said they were proud of supporting motorsport in the country.

“It is a great honour to be part of this year's East Africa Classic Rally edition. I am particularly ecstatic that all cars are running on Shell Vpower. This is a culmination of the many steps we have taken in supporting motorsports in Kenya. We wish all threads participants the very best and a safe and fulfilling competition,” he said.
