World’s Top 10 Best Hospitals for Medical Tourism

PRINCE COURT MEDICAL CENTER, MALAYSIA

The annual ranking by the Medical Travel Quality Alliance (MTQUA) confirms that Asia is again leading the way as the number one medical tourism destination across the world. For the second time in a row, Malaysia’s Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpus was selected as the hospital that best provides medical tourists with outstanding care as well as excellent medical treatment.

While there are many outstanding international medical centers in Asia, many medical tourists value not only excellency of care and medical treatment, but also non-clinical aspects of care, such as good communication skills, social practices, ethics, cultural expectations, and post-discharge care coordination. These factors all affect the overall experience for medical tourists. Julie Muntro from MTQUA states that “It’s almost impossible for medical tourists to know how to find a good hospital that will truly provide the treatment and care they are traveling to get. We hope consumers and doctors will pay more attention to non-clinical factors that can significantly impact clinical outcomes and not just ask about hotels and airport pickups.”
Malaysia and Turkey new stars on the Medical Tourism Sky

While Thailand has often been seen as the number one medical tourism destination, the land of smiles enjoy fierce competition from its southern neighbor Malaysia, along with Turkey who attracts increasing patients from Europe and the Middle East. While a Malaysian hospital takes the first rank, Turkey’s Andalou Medical Centre is number four on MTQUA’s list of the best hospitals for 2014.
