UGANDA: Chimpanzee Attacks A Man

A man in his 20’s is admitted in Kiziramfumbi health center three with severe hand injuries after he was allegedly attacked and injured by a chimpanzee in Kihigwa village, Kidoma Parish in Kiziramfumbi sub-county, Hoima.

The victim only identified as Habasa, is said to have been attacked the beast yesterday afternoon while in his garden.
Habasa was rushed to a private clinic in the area where he is receiving treatment.
Deus Bashabomwe, the Kidoma parish councilor at Kiziramfumbi sub-county council blames Uganda World life Authority for shifting chimpanzees in the area despite the fact there are limited forest cover to harbor them.

Cases of wild animals attacking human beings in Hoima have been common of late.
In 2015, a two-year-old baby was kidnapped and injured by a chimpanzee in Kikinga cell, Nyarugabu Bugambe sub-county. In July 2014, a two-year-old child was attacked and killed by a chimpanzee in Muhorro, Kibaale district.
