The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), one of the world’s leading hospitality business management schools and part of the global luxury hotel company Jumeirah Group, has won gold at the Dilmah Real High Tea Global Challenge in Sri Lanka.
A total of 21 teams from 14 countries competed in the competition to demonstrate new and innovative high teas which included fine gastronomy and mixology all delivered with a touch of elegance. Director of Culinary Arts Chef Michael Kitts and Lecturer Maximilian Rauch both won gold medals at the international level of the event. The duo presented a modern Tea-Licious theme comprising lamb kofta, spiced tomato compote with mint tea crumpet and Dilmah Mint Green Tea. The luxurious experience was said to be the highlight of the presentation and ‘defined afternoon tea in the 21st century.’
In April 2013, EAHM won the national level of the Dilmah Real High Tea Global Challenge and recently represented the UAE in Sri Lanka.
Chef Kitts said: “It was a very tough competition, but very inspiring. Our preparation all paid off and to bring home a gold medal for EAHM made it all worthwhile. Max and I would like to thank Mr. Hilvert and our sponsors for all the help and support that made it all possible.”
The event was attended by His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, who was accompanied by Dilmah Founder Merrill J. Fernando and his sons, Dilhan and Malik.
