CHINA: World’s Luckiest Plane Passenger

A lucky Chinese woman found that she was the only passenger on a flight back to her hometown after all the other passengers changed to an earlier flight.

The lucky woman enjoyed a “rockstar” moment after being the only passenger to turn up for a China Southern Airlines flight CZ2833 from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (WUH) to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN).

This was exactly like chartering a plane for just 1,200 yuan (S$261), complete with pilots and flight attendants.

The lucky passenger’s flight, which was delayed for 10 hours due to an unexpected snow storm, saw most passengers catching earlier flights – leaving her the only one aboard.

The passenger, Ms Zhang, has written about her “happy” experience on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

Many of her followers were delighted and dubbed her the “world’s luckiest passenger” as one commentator wrote:

“What a great way to fly, you are indeed very lucky to experience such hospitality especially at such a chaotic travelling period.”

“Sister, you are clearly the world’s luckiest passenger – cherish it,” another admirer wrote.

The world’s luckiest passenger took selfies, and the cabin crew took pictures of her on the empty plane as she flew over China. She even met the pilot, and together she said they shared a bag of oranges.

Ms Zhang wrote on Weibo:

“Today I flew to Guangzhou from Wuhan. Incredibly, I had my private plane. Yes, you read that right! Only me! And the cabin crew.”

“It makes me feel like a tycoon. At first, I thought the flight would be cancelled. Surprisingly, it took off despite the fact I was the only passenger. Very professional airline.”

One other user replied:

“Don’t be silly. They would fly even if there were no passengers.”
