KENYA: UNCTAD Conference For Nairobi Kenya

Following the hosting of the UN’s hugely successful conference of the World Trade Organization, in short WTO in December last year, when over 7.000 delegates and conference participants streamed into Kenya’s capital Nairobi, are news emerging now that UNCTAD, the UN’s Conference on Trade and Development has also chosen Kenya as the venue for their next major global meeting.

Due to take place between the 17th and 22nd of July at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre will the 14th such global UNCTAD conference also see around the same number of delegations – many led by their respective heads of state or government – and participants descend on Nairobi.

Notably is former Kenyan Minister of Trade, Dr. Kituyi the current Secretary General of UNCTAD, and bringing this global meeting to his home country, against much prior adversity Kenya suffered from anti-travel advisories, is seen as a major breakthrough for Kenya’s MICE industry in particular and tourism industry in general.

Pre- and post conference tours will be on offer for delegates to visit Kenya’s national parks and beaches and national airline Kenya Airways will, as it did for the WTO conference, once again provide delegates with flights from across its network in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Visitors planning to come to Kenya over these dates are well advised to secure their bookings as soon as possible as Nairobi will, like it was in December, probably very soon hang out the fully booked signs.
