SLOVENIA: 10th Anniversary Of Turkish Airlines Flights To Istanbul

It has been 10 years since Turkish Airlines began offering flights from Ljubljana Airport to Istanbul. The connection between the Slovenian and Turkish cities was established on 16 January 2006. In the ten years that followed, nearly half a million travellers have travelled through Ljubljana Airport with Turkish Airlines.

Turkish Airlines ranks as one of the most important partners for Aerodrom Ljubljana. The entry of Turkish Airlines into the Slovenian market radically increased the scope for travel from Ljubljana Airport to the Balkans, the Middle and Far East and to Africa. Their network of flights is continuously developing and expanding, and more recently, alongside the above destinations they have been offering very attractive services to the USA.

From 16 January 2006 to the present day, nearly half a million travellers have travelled through Ljubljana Airport with Turkish Airlines. Their winter timetable 2015/2016 offers a daily service to Istanbul with Airbus 319 or 320 aircraft. In the summer timetable, which begins on 27 March 2016, the number of flights will increase to 14 per week, i.e. twice a day.

Via their main hub of Istanbul Atatürk Airport you can continue your journey to numerous world destinations. Access to an even wider network of flights is made possible by membership in the carrier association Star Alliance. Demand for Turkish Airlines flights is high among travellers seeking to fly between Ljubljana and Istanbul, as well as among those with travelling on to more distant destinations. Estimates indicate that such travellers make up more than half of the passengers using this service.

Zmago Skobir, managing director of Aerodrom Ljubljana, marked this milestone with the following words: “This ten-year period clearly shows that Turkish Airlines is a solid and extremely important partner for Aerodrom Ljubljana. Turkish Airlines is not just important to us in terms of the number of passengers, which is constantly growing, but because they offer, via Istanbul Atatürk Airport, competitive business and tourist connections to Asia and Africa, while their flights towards the west are becoming increasingly attractive. Through their quality, ever improving flight network and price competitiveness, Turkish Airlines is contributing significantly to the competitiveness of Ljubljana Airport relative to surrounding airports. For this reason on this 10th anniversary we congratulate them, thank them and look forward to continuing successful cooperation!”
