Austria: Austrian Airlines New Hourly Flight Service Between Vienna and Frankfurt

Starting March 30, 2014, Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa will jointly provide a flight shuttle service between Vienna and Frankfurt. Flights will depart on an hourly basis during the day from both Vienna and Frankfurt. In addition, the domestic airline Austrian Airlines will fly more frequently to Frankfurt, namely six times per day instead of five. Lufthansa will continue to offer seven daily flights. On balance, passengers will be able to choose from 13 flights each day.

• Austrian and Lufthansa will jointly offer a total of 13 flights daily between Vienna and Frankfurt
• Austrian Airlines increases flight frequency to six per day
• Hourly departures from Vienna and Frankfurt and regular departure times facilitate travel planning
• All Austrian Airlines flights to Frankfurt on Airbus A320-family

Regular departure times facilitate travel planning

Passengers will benefit from regular departure times of the new flight shuttle service: The flights leaving from Vienna will depart ten minutes after the hour, the flights from Frankfurt at ten minutes before the hour. The hourly flight service has already proven its worth with other Lufthansa destinations. Now the shuttle service connects both important flight hubs every 60 minutes thanks to the determined adaptation of the flight schedules of the two airlines.

So far the Austrian Airlines flights from and to Frankfurt made use of both Fokker and Airbus aircraft. Starting with the summer 2014 flight schedule, both airlines will only operate aircraft belonging to the Airbus A320-family (A319, A320, A321) on flight service connecting Vienna and Frankfurt. “With the new flight shuttle service between Vienna and Frankfurt, we want to facilitate travel planning, especially for business travelers. The additional flight enables us to expand the selection of available flights and the seating capacity. In the future, Frankfurt will be even more strongly linked to our hub in Vienna. Everybody, whether business travelers or holidaymakers, will benefit from the new offering”, explains Karsten Benz, Chief Commercial Officer of Austrian Airlines.
