UAE: Emirates Pilot Stabbed By Burglars

General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina meets Emirates pilot
Two thieves have been arrested for stabbing an Emirates airline pilot as he chased them out of his home, said Dubai Police.

Dubai police said that Richard Mark Barber, an Irish pilot who has been working for Emirates for 16 years, was inside his villa when he heard some noise in the kitchen at 3:30 am.

The pilot reportedly went to the kitchen on the ground floor and saw the burglar.

However, Police did not disclose the location of the villa or when exactly the incident took place.

General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigations, said: “The burglar escaped and the pilot chased him outside the house and saw his second mate waiting.

The thief managed to stab the pilot with a knife several times before escaping.”

Police said the man has been stabbed in the upper part of his body.

The pilot’s family called police who immediately started a search of the two men after the victim provided them the details of the car that the burglars escaped in.

“Despite the lack of details we managed to arrest the pair who confessed the incident.”

The two men have been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution.

The details of the case were revealed after the pilot visited General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina, Dubai Police Chief, in his office to show his appreciation.

“I just wanted to thank Dubai Police for their work,” Barber told the force.
