The Thousand Islands regency administration in Jakarta has asked that tourists “dress modestly” when visiting.

As the Thousand Islands becomes more popular with tourists, the Tourism and Culture Agency has begun disseminating information asking tourists to dress appropriately out of respect for local residents and their culture.

Beach clothing is alright to wear in certain areas as the Thousand Islands does offer activities such as snorkeling.
