Tourists to the UAE can now apply for a 90-day visa online, the Ministry of Interior has announced.
The e-service, available on both the ministry’s website and smartphone app, is expected to reduce application time, as well as the number of people at its visa centres by 80 percent within three years.
The 90-day visa is only available to visitors who are sponsored by either a citizen, resident or investor.
Applicants sponsored by a private sector employer also require a copy of the business licence, while applicants sponsored by a non-citizen relative who is a resident require a copy of a certified marriage contract or birth certificate and a certified tenancy contract or electricity bill, as well as a bank security deposit of AED1000 ($272), proof of health insurance, a passport copy of the sponsored person valid for a minimum six months, and an eGate card with a copy of the sponsor’s passport.
