AUSTRALIA: Brisbane International Airport Evacuated, Man Arrested After He Was Found With A Knife

Brisbane International Airport in the Australian state of Queensland has been evacuated with police making a Declaration under the Queensland Public Safety and Preservation Act. The Australian Federal Police is currently in attendance.

Local media reports that people have witnessed a man with knives, this information is yet to be officially confirmed.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) tweeted that trains to the airport have stopped. Brisbane Airport states it hopes operations get back to normal as soon as possible.

Police have made a declaration under the Public Safety and Preservation Act tonight at Brisbane Airport due an emergency situation.

The International Airport has been evacuated and trains have currently been stopped. The Australian Federal Police are in attendance in conjunction with Queensland Police. There is no further information at this time.

Queensland Police Service specialist police have taken a suspect into custody and they will be conveyed to a police station for interview.

Trains and planes are still stopped with the emergency still in effect as police conduct clearance searches. The police stated no injuries occurred to anyone.

Police have also confirmed that the incident does not appear to be terrorist related, but is instead related to a domestic violence related situation.

Specialist police have taken a man into custody. Police are currently conducting clearance searches of the International Terminal. No reported injuries to any members of the public or police. PSPA -emergency declaration remains in place.


Queensland Police reported a man has been transported to a police station where he is to be interviewed. Specialist police remain at the airport with clearance searches of the International Terminal on-going.
