BANGLADESH: New Boeing B737-800 Joins Biman Fleet


A new generation Boeing B737-800 has joined the fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The 162-seat aircraft-one of the two on order_ arrived in Dhaka on November 27.

With the induction of this next generation Boeing B737-800, to the fleet, the number of aircraft of the fleet is now 13. The other Boeing B737-800 on order is expected to be delivered this month (December).

In 2008, the airline went into an agreement with Boeing Company for acquisition of 10 new generation aircraft of four Boeing B777-300ERs, two Boeing B737-800 and four Boeing B787 Dreamliner, the biggest ever deal in the history of the airline.

Boeing has already delivered four Boeing B777-300ER aircraft to Biman.

As per agreement Boeing is scheduled to deliver four Boeing B787 Dreamliner aircraft by 2019-2020.
Presently Biman flies to only 15 destinations mostly in Asia-and Europe.

OMAN: Oman Air Makes Its Way To Dhaka


Ribbon cutting in Dhaka. Oman Air will link Muscat with the Bangladeshi capital with a four times weekly link which will face direct competition from United Airways Bangladesh and Biman Bangladesh Airlines according to OAG Schedules Analyser.

Oman Air commenced services between Muscat (MCT) and Dhaka (DAC) on 25 October. The 3,261-kilometre link will be served four times weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. From 1 December, a Monday and Wednesday service will also be added.

Dhaka is the airline’s second destination in Bangladesh after Chittagong, which is served daily from Muscat. Services between the two capital cities will face direct competition from United Airways Bangladesh and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, which both operate a daily service.

Oman Air will serve the city pair using a mixture of its A330-200s and A330-300s according to OAG Schedules Analyser data.
