Design Details

The renowned New York City-based design boutique will bring a handcrafted approach to effortlessly integrating the Resort’s signature indoor-outdoor spaces with the peninsula’s vibrant tropical landscape so that nature takes centre stage.
Meyer Davis’ design concept of effortless, sun-dappled luxury and modern elegance will play with space, form, texture and light to develop a visual experience that celebrates the rare beauty and alluring mystique of Peninsula Papagayo and the rustic coastal Central American lifestyle.
The new design vision will weave together a soothing, natural colour palette, rich elements from nature, indigenous art and local wood to create an immediate and lasting impression while revealing an ongoing visual dialogue of discovery.
The Resort’s 181 guest rooms, suites and villas will emerge as all-new sophisticated retreats for today’s generation of luxury travellers, with a modern yet locally-celebrated design aesthetic that recalls the intimate luxury, warmth and comforts of a beautiful home space.
Each room’s foundation of new furnishings, natural colours, rich textures and woods, and local elements including artisan pieces and artwork will create a seamless visual connection to the wondrous flora and fauna and expansive ocean views on display beyond each room’s private balcony or patio.
The Resort’s 15 one-bedroom Canopy Suites built into the hillside will additionally feature new plunge pools.
The redesigned lobby will offer an inviting and convivial open-air gathering space that encourages guests to linger longer and enjoy the surrounding nature. The lobby will also be anchored by a new luxury retail experience.
All of the Resort’s five culinary venues will be re-conceptualized with a fresh approach that focuses on locally-sourced organic foods. Highlights include three re-imagined restaurants and an all-new Añejo bar and Library lounge serving artisanal rum and spirits.
The resort’s signature restaurant will offer a new farm-and-sea-to-table concept and a showpiece outdoor kitchen.
A redesigned lower lobby lounge will provide a dynamic gathering space for guests that transitions throughout the day from grab and go offerings in the morning to a relaxed lounge and bar setting during afternoons and evenings. Guests can also enjoy an enhanced steakhouse and an Italian and Mediterranean seafood-focused restaurant.
Flanked by glistening beach and ocean views, the signature pool area at the heart of the Resort will become an ultimate escape for sun-kissed relaxation and social gathering with enhancements including new luxury cabanas, amenities and programming that offer new ways to relax and play.
Guests can also enjoy a variety of only-here experiences across active adventures, culture, wellness, fitness and volunteerism that range from exhilarating manta ray and dolphin expeditions, mountain biking along the Peninsula’s new trail system, surfing trips and yoga practice to experiencing the lives of the local Ticos people through horse riding, cheese making and pottery sessions.
The December 2017 debut of the re-imagined Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica will also signal the launch of a more than USD 100 million investment toward a major transformation of the 1,400-acre (570 hectare) Peninsula Papagayo – one of the premier residential and resort communities in the Americas.
Guided by new ownership led by Miami-based Gencom, a leading international luxury hospitality and residential real estate investment and development firm, the ambitious destination transformation will connect and celebrate the sprawling Peninsula from end to end for the first time.
In addition to the Resort renovation, the first USD 100 million phase will include all-new Peninsula amenities, immersive adventure and cultural experiences and a Peninsula-wide network of more than eight miles of nature trails designed to integrate man and nature and help preserve one of the most extraordinary biological corridors on the planet.

COSTA RICA: SITA To Implement Control Center Technology At Juan Santamaria International Airport
Costa Rica’s busiest airport, the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela, 20 minutes northwest of San José, has selected SITA to implement its ground-breaking control center technology solution.
SITA, a global information technology provider to the air transport industry, will operate its ControlBridge which will provide Aeris Holdings, the airport operator, with a centralized and integrated view of everything happening at the airport, from security to boarding gates, and from ground handling to facilities management.
The system also provides an important communication component of enabling collaborative decision making between all stakeholders.
SJO is one of the top airports in Central and Latin America, and Aeris has an intensive investment program to deliver innovation and technology to strengthen its position.
SITA ControlBridge plays an integral role in providing the technology that enables the airport to coordinate, monitor and control all airport operations centrally.
Rafael Mencia, CEO of Aeris, said: “ControlBridge enables us to integrate and optimize operations across the entire airport into a single command center.
It incorporates data from every stakeholder operating at the airport, providing a complete view of everything, all the time.
This will give us much more flexibility in managing day-to-day airport operations, optimized resource management, quicker decision making and enhanced emergency response capabilities.
Ultimately, it means we’ll be able to provide a better passenger experience.
SITA was the obvious choice for this project because of its global expertise not only in the technology but also the operations and processes at an airport.
As we implement ControlBridge, SITA’s broad and practical experience will be invaluable.
As part of the project, SITA will also update the airport’s closed caption TV infrastructure and integrate it into the control center, along with radio communications.
SITA’s will procure, install, configure, and test the ControlBridge components before the system goes live in October.
Elbson Quadros, SITA Vice President for Latin America, said: “The implementation of SITA ControlBridge will provide SJO an integrated command and control capability across what are traditionally stand-alone functions.
This includes airport operations, physical security, engineering and facilities management, baggage handling, emergency response, the airport IT service desk, and more.
It is a significant move by AERIS to provide Costa Rica with a modern airport that helps improve the country’s competitiveness.
SITA’s ControlBridge solution provides fit-for-purpose airport control center technology that facilitates enhanced functionality for airports of any size and with nearly any budget.
To keep both implementation and maintenance costs to a minimum, SITA uses common off-the-shelf hardware where possible.
Combined with SITA’s unique in-depth knowledge of integrating data from diverse sources, SITA ControlBridge is the most comprehensive and cost-effective airport integrated control center technology solution available today.

COSTA RICA: With Kindness And Courtesy You Deserve,Spirit Airlines Opens Sales And Customer Service Office
Spirit Airlines opened on Saturday, July 1, a new sales and customer service office in Costa Rica to better serve local customers, said the airline.
The office will be open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. Phone queries can be made via (506) 4032-9449, where Spirit representatives will assist customers, with the kindness and courtesy you deserve.
With over 60 destinations, Spirit air aims to provide those traveling from Costa Rica with excellent customer service to aid in a good travel experience.
Remember that you can also visit the Spirit website, www.spirit.com, to make reservations, obtain flight status information, or find answers to your questions about Spirit’s business model and travel policies.
One of the most successful discount airlines in the United States recently announced an increase in the frequency of its flights between Houston and Costa Rica starting on May 28, 2015. Earlier this year, Spirit Airlines made news when it repainted many of its aircraft in a bold and bright yellow pattern that makes their passenger jets look like big New York City taxis in the sky.
This time, the news of new international air routes are placing the airline as a major solution for frugal travelers who fly between the United States and Latin American destinations.
As reported on a recent press release by Spirit Airlines, government approval is being sought for a total of four weekly flights between the Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), province of Alajuela.
The airline is also seeking to increase flights to other Central American destinations as well as Cancun, Los Cabos and Toluca in Mexico:
Get ready to fly to some great locations and save a lot of money doing so. Today, Spirit Airlines announced it will be expanding its non-stop service to ten new destinations beginning in the Spring of 2015.
The new locations include domestic cities including Tampa, Baltimore/Washington, DC and Oakland/San Francisco Bay, and seven destinations in Latin America including Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
However, International routes are subject to foreign governmental approval.
We’re excited to offer our customers in Houston the opportunity to fly to and from these great destinations without having to spend a ton of money getting there, said Ben Baldanza, Spirit Airlines’ President & CEO.
Whether you’re visiting family or the great attractions these cities have to offer, Spirit’s Ultra-Low Bare Fares™ along with Frill Control™ allow many more travelers to fly to these great cities who previously could not afford it.
According to Department of Transportation data1, on average Spirit Airlines’ airfare is more than 40% less than other airlines.
Even after adding some of the optional services Spirit offers, the total price is still 35% less.
With fares this low, Spirit’s customers spend less money on their flights and that gives them more money to spend at their destination of choice.
These new destinations are in addition to the 12 non-stop cities Spirit currently offers from Houston, which includes Atlanta, Chicago (O’Hare), Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New Orleans, Orlando, and San Diego, along with connecting service to an additional 17 cities.
Customers can check out the crazy low fares and vacation packages available to all the destinations where Spirit flies at www.spirit.com and also sign up to receive alerts on Spirit’s email deals and offers.
Spirit Airlines clearly recognizes the opportunities associated with an economy as dynamic as Houston’s, says Houston Aviation Director Mario C. Diaz.
The Spirit team arrived at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in 2012 offering two nonstop destinations but with this new announcement that destination total will soon stand at twenty-two.
They’ve already proven their commitment to an aggressive growth strategy on the domestic front and now we’re anxious to see them apply that same philosophy to Houston’s international route map.”

COSTA RICA: Costa Rica and Nicaragua Work To Offer Tourism Options
Ten Costa Rican tourism companies visited the coast of Nicaragua in the South Pacific this week with the purpose of exploring the tourism offer existent in this area.
According to Jose Adrián Aguerri, president of the Superior Council of Private Companies of Nicaragua, they had organized meetings with Costa Rican and Nicaraguan authorities and planned to visit different beaches and tourist locations in the regions of Tola and San Juan del Sur, including Rancho Santana, Guacalito de la Isla, Playa Hermosa and San Juan del Sur.
With this visit they expect to generate tourism for both countries, in other words, the idea is to promote a multi-destination package. There are big hotel chains that have investments both in Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
This is important so that we can come together and develop plans among tourism companies in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. This is a result of a past meeting from the private sectors of both countries where we agreed to take actions in this sense, explained Aguerri.
The private sector in Nicaragua has already reported to their Government the need of a establishing a tourism frontier control station in the community of El Naranjo in San Juan del Sur to provide a better and faster service to all tourists coming from Costa Rica.
The President of the Costa Rica;s National Tourism Chamber Isabel Vargas and the investor and former tourism minister of Costa Rica Rubén Pacheco were part of the delegation.
Lucy Valenti, president of the Nicaragua Tourism Chamber, commented that this is an effort to consolidate and strengthen the commercial relations and investments between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, while at the same time looking for more investment from hotels and tourism infrastructure in Nicaragua.
