MOROCCO: Girl Secretly Flys To Morocco To Meet Facebook Boyfriend

Rebecca Arthur, 17, sparked a massive multi-agency search after she tricked her mom into driving her to JFK airport so she could fly to Morocco to meet her Facebook boyfriend.

A 17-year-old Connecticut girl who secretly flew to Morocco to meet her Facebook boyfriend has been found safe, authorities said Friday.

Rebecca Arthur was at a vacation villa in the seaside community of Essaouira, Morocco, relaxing with her online beau and his family, Clinton police said.

The teen sparked panic and a massive multi-agency search after she fooled her mother into dropping her off at JFK Airport Monday—lying that she was visiting a friend in California, authorities said.

She landed in Casablanca on Tuesday and was found “safe and sound” by Moroccan police, Clinton Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jeremiah Dunn said.

Arthur was believed to be in grave danger after sneaking off to embark on the near 4,000-mile journey to pursue a relationship with her Facebook boyfriend Simo El Adala.

The couple was allegedly photographed together in Simo El Adala's home in Casablanca, according to the local news station Morocco World News.

U.S. officials in Morocco are working to fly Arthur back home, officials said
