Abu Dhabi customs officials seized over 30,000 bottles of alcohol in a lorry at the UAE border with Saudi Arabia.
Officials discovered the haul at Al Ghuwaifat customs after they received a tip-off about an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of alcohol across the border, according to a report in The National.
Using scanning equipment, the officials found the illegal stash of alcohol in crates that were marked as apples.
Officials seized 2,559 cardboard boxes, which had a total of 30,708 bottles.
In Oman, meanwhile, Royal Oman Police coastguards arrested two men after they intercepted a boat off the coast of Musandam carrying 25 medium-sized cartons of alcohol.
