TANZANIA; Albinism Conference taking Place In Dar es Salaam

The first-ever Pan-African conference for people living with albinism is taking place in Tanzania's commercial capital, Dar es Salaam.

In Tanzania - and elsewhere - people with albinism are sometimes discriminated against and even killed for their body parts, which some believe bring luck.

Jake Epelle, the founder of Nigeria's Albino Foundation said about his experiences.

"The situation is horrible. The discrimination is still there.

"Sometimes it's subtle, there are people who won't shake your hands, there are people who won't sit with you on the bus, there are people who won't even sit with you in church."
