USA: NY Lawmakers To Review State Parks, Tourism Programs

New York will spend millions of dollars on state parks, historic preservation and efforts to boost tourism this year, and now state lawmakers want to see how that investment is paying off.

The state Assembly Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development is scheduled to meet Monday morning in New York City to assess the state's recreational and tourism-related programs.

The hearing will focus on the effectiveness of tourism programs like the "I Love NY" initiative as well as the overall commitment to parks, recreational facilities and historic sites.

The state's Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation received more than $320 million in the current year's budget.
