CHINA: Disneyland Resort To Open In Shangai

It is a theme resort of superlatives: The new Disney Resort with six theme parks and two hotels will open in Shanghai this June. According to a report by TOPHOTELPROJECTS, the worldwide leading provider for b2b hotel data, the investment volume amounts to around 5.5 billion US dollars, a “World Class Resort” which sets a new standard within the leisure hospitality.


The joint venture project consists of two properties, the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel with 420 rooms and the Toy Story Hotel with 800 rooms. Theme parks will be, among others, the "Disney Town" with restaurants and bars and the "Wishing Star Park".

Two more major theme parks are planned for the greater Shanghai region: the "Hydron Polar Ocean Park" (planned opening: 2017) and the "Polar Ocean Park". The "Legoland Discovery Center" was inaugurated last year in the popular holiday region in southern China.

Due to the theme resorts, the importance of Shanghai as an international vacation destination continues to grow.
