ISRAEL: Ministry Grants for Camping Development

The Ministry of Tourism’s Investment Committee has approved grants to establish five overnight camping lots, with an overall capacity of 1432 beds: Park Savir in the Central Arava; Kibbutz Beit Haemek in the Western Galilee; Ein Zivan on the Golan Heights; Ahuzat Hazan at Har Gilo, and on the Spice Route in the Negev. The total investment stands at ILS 10,736,000, with a Ministry investment grant of about 20 percent of the total figure.

“The Ministry of Tourism is encouraging the establishment of overnight camping lots in order to promote budget tourism - accessible and affordable to all,” a spokesperson says.”

Last year, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA) improved camping lots and their infrastructure, with hot showers, barbecue areas and family picnic tables and started offering the opportunity to rent tents, mattresses etc. under its supervision.

INPA also allowed for caravan parking in Eshkol Park, the Yehudiya Parking Lot and Hurshat Tal. An additional five lots will be made.
