KENYA: Getaway For Leisure And Adventure

An adventurers’ paradise. A destination for those who love speed and the pedal-thumping adrenaline thrill that leaves one feeling like World Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton.

It is a tranquil environment where one can bond, watch birds chirp away, spend time with family and friends and even make a marriage proposal.

For the honchos, it is the perfect venue for team-building, conferences and fun. That sums up the experience at Chaka Ranch in Nyeri County.

Located in Kiganjo, between Mt Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges, the ranch is gaining popularity as the best getaway for anyone seeking tranquillity, leisure and adventure.

The main attraction at Chaka Ranch is the leisure park where gaming and team-building events take place.

For fun lovers, the ranch comes to life from Friday to Sunday.

The ranch has the biggest collection of off-road buggies and quad bikes in Kenya, offering the thrill of karting and riding for all age groups.

To add to the excitement, part of the two-kilometre track is wet, muddy or dusty, depending on the season.

Then there is the action arena where teams take part in paint gunner games, tug-of-war on a wet surface, obstacle racing, rock climbing and bubble soccer.

At the end of the fun, visitors are treated to copious amounts of nyama choma, roast chicken, ugali, mukimo and an array of salads.

The menu is strictly African and is served in any of the three courts. The meal is served near a beautiful dam view.

Visitors wishing to be accommodated can walk to the 20 luxury tents.

The tents are in an intimate and exclusive environment surrounded by neatly manicured lawns and a collection of pine and acacia trees .

Worth noting is the fact that guests who spend their nights at Chaka Ranch have no access to television.

Ms Lydia Kasivi, a receptionist, says the absence of TV gives visiting groups maximum space and time to interact without any interference.

If you intend to visit the ranch, do not carry cash with you. The only accepted mode of payment are credit cards and mobile phone money transfer, particularly M-Pesa.
