The popular ‘Computer Village’ market in Ikeja, Lagos went agog this morning as one of Nigeria’s leading gospel music sensation, Chioma Jesus attracted a whooping crowd of over 20, 000 worshippers to her gospel worship crusade held inside the market.
Capitalizing on the early morning weekly sanitation that holds in markets every Thursday in Lagos, the mammoth crowd present at the worship and evangelistic crusade led to the closure of the market between as early as 7.30 am to 11.am when the crusade eventually ended.
Crowds of people gathered on stretches down the four streets at Otigba street interjection; so many people hung on the balconies, verandas and windows of adjoining buildings.
Speaking after the crusade, she explained that looking around the situation in the country, and seeing the massive crowd that gathered there that morning, the woman of God responded saying, ‘I feel so much fulfilled, because I see the response of people. The bible says that in the days of His power the people shall be willing.
And I’m also very happy because whenever praises go up, God’s presence and power, grace, mercy, favour and healing from God comes upon us.
‘The scripture says, that “If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, confess their sins and seek my face, I God will hear them”!
‘Nigeria needs God! There’s nothing we need in this world now more than God. And as we offer these praises unto Him, God comes down and do great things!
She explained that gospel music is a tool for changing lives and situations. ‘If not gospel music in this country, many people would have died. When you tune on to gospel music, you receive your healing, peace in your marriage, divine breakthroughs and open doors.’
She went on to speak about her experience and testimonies since doing gospel music.
‘After many years of doing gospel music, I have many testimonies. I waited for 15 years before God gave me another son. God delivered me from a major surgery about three months ago; that is in my latest album. And God took me from nowhere and lifted up and made me an international gospel singer’!
