Murtala Mohammed International Airport
Passengers and stakeholders at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos will soon witness improved services at the airport as the new terminal under construction has reached completion stage.
Our correspondent who was at the international wing of the airport reports that the terminal with the capacity to process 30 million passengers is almost ready for hand-over to the government.
Unlike before, when the project was kept away from the glimpse of people as the work progressed, visitors and passengers especially airport officials are now able to view the level of work done.
Looking at the new terminal from a distance, it really gives an impression of a project that is about to be completed.
The Lagos terminal is one of the four terminals being constructed, with other three being the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Port Harcourt International Airport and Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.
The new terminal when completed is expected to ease passengers' facilitation at the airport and increase passengers' volume from the present 15 million to 30 million as envisaged by government.
The spokesman of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Yakubu Dati, confirmed that the new terminal is at the stage of completion.
He said: "From what we can observe physically, the work is nearing completion. In fact they are just putting finishing touches and we believe that they would be able to meet up with their deadline which is actually the end of the year to deliver the facility.
