Binter In Deal To Buy Six More ATR 72-600 Turboprops.

Spanish carrier Binter has concluded a deal to buy a further six ATR 72-600 turboprops. The agreement increases the Gran Canaria-based airline’s outstanding commitments for the type to 18.

The incoming aircraft will join Binter’s existing fleet of four ATR 72-600s, and will be used to replace its outgoing ATR 72-500s, some of which will be transferred to its new Cape Verde-based subsidiary Binter CV.

Elsewhere, Binter came out on top at the European Regions Airline Association’s Airline of the Year awards, held in Madrid on October 12. The Spanish carrier, which finished ahead of CityJet and Flybe in silver and bronze respectively, was commended by an independent judging panel consisting of senior industry experts, aviation journalists and academics for its constant growth and expansion into new markets.

Binter President Pedro Agustin del Castillo said he was “extremely proud” to receive the accolade. He added: “The ERA has acknowledged our work on several occasions, which is important for us because it shows this is not a one-off achievement, but rather recognition of our continuing endeavour over time and the daily efforts of all the people working at Binter to provide the best regional transport service.”
