Indian passengers have sued Boeing in a US court over the ill-fated Emirates B777 that crashed at Dubai Airport last year.
The suit, filed in Illinois’ Cook County Circuit Court, charges the manufacturer with a security switch in the aircraft’s electronics system that the passengers say did not not function at a critical moment during the attempted landing.
All 300 passengers aboard the plane survived, but over 24 passengers were reportedly injured in the crash on 3 August, 2016, the worst in Emirates’ history.
Earlier this month, the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority had ruled out deficiencies in the aircraft or its engines as a cause for the crash, but said the investigation could take another two to three years to conclude.
Neither Boeing or the GCAA have provided further details about the investigation or the lawsuit.
