As the US Travel ban against seven predominantly Muslim countries was pulled back over the weekend, a fake news report claiming South Africans no longer require visas to travel to America has been doing the rounds.
The US Embassy in Pretoria has however debunked the report which stated US President Donald Trump had signed an executive order granting visa-free status to South Africans.
It posted a tweet saying, "No change to US visa policy for South African passport holders. For more info on our visa policies."

The issue of fake news has been raised by the SA National Editors’ Forum, who has called for an investigation for the confusion being created by these fake reports.
