CONGO: Congo Airways The New DR Congo Flyer

Congo Airways is a start-up airline in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It plans to start operations on 20 August 2015, using Airbus A320 aircraft to serve eight Congolese destinations from its base at N'djili Airport in Kinshasa.

The Congo Airways fleet will consist of the following aircraft:

2 Airbus A320-200

One the aircraft has been reported as being impounded in Dublin where it was to be painted.

The question raised by some deputies of the opposition on the real costs of the two Airbus A320 aircraft acquired by the government on behalf of Congo Airways stirs controversy in the capital Kinshasa.

Indeed a fringe deputies questioning the government about $ 50 million paid to Alitalia to acquire its two aircraft, 8 years old. These deputies say there have been outbid and considers that apparatus of this age should not cost more than 7-8 million.

They therefore ask the government to make public official documents having sanctioned this transaction. On the other hand, say the language recently acquired devices on behalf of the Congo barely Airways that would transport 136 passengers, while the Airbus A320 family of 3 local company FlyCAA average carrying nearly 170 passengers.

Investigations carried inform us of a capacity of 165 passengers, but we can not confirm at this time. It depends on the configurations of the device. Discussions are wide open. This bad press, says the odds are we in some circles in Kinshasa would be attributed to FlyCAA that would see a dim view of the arrival of Congo Airways will be his direct competitor.

The latest controversy concerns the appearance of Congo Airways on the European blacklist of airlines banned from flying over Africa the European sky. Even before its first flight, the Congolese are surprised that the new Congo Airways is already blacklisted in Europe.

The gossips say that this decision is due to the purchase by CA aircraft users that belonged to Alitalia, and that is proof enough that these devices are not technically reliable, and they call pejoratively "Used Europe '.

The DGA CA, Jerome Maillet held to clarify that it was an administrative problem with the Congolese civil aviation, and it does not question the reliability of the device, even months of the company Air, which operates according to European standards.
