Following a $16.4 million renovation, New Orleans' Copeland Tower, home of the Best Western Plus Landmark Hotel & Suites, has been reopened with a brand new look.
Al Copeland Investments, which financed the renovation, was accompanied by several local officials during a grand reveal ceremony earlier this month.
"Several years ago, our team launched extensive market research. Based on our findings we were able to determine that the rooms should be transformed into suites in order to offer an upscale, extended stay option centrally located between the airport and downtown New Orleans," Best Western Plus Landmark Hotel & Suites President Gary Weissert said in a statement. "With that, we converted every two rooms into one."
With the addition of 95 condo-style suites, the hotel now boasts 251 guestrooms. Each condo-style suite features 750 square feet of space, a full-service kitchen, a separate living room, a 47-inch LED television and free Wi-Fi
In addition to a business center, the hotel features a full-service restaurant, a fitness room and an outdoor swimming pool.
Brand new meeting and conference facilities have also been constructed on the 16th floor, giving the hotel more than 15,000 square feet of dedicated work space.
"The Landmark has long served as a landmark in the Jefferson Parish landscape," Jefferson Parish President John Young said in a statement. "Now, 10 years after Hurricane Katrina, we are so grateful for the tremendous investment...which reinvigorated the property by incorporating beautiful facilities for meetings, conferences and events, along with exciting new amenities..."
The Copeland Tower renovation brings the total number of available hotel rooms in the New Orleans metro area to nearly 39,000, up significantly from just 10,000 in 2005, when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city and surrounding Gulf Coast.
