GABON: Pongara Lodge

The site is locates within the Pongara Park, on the Atlantic Coast, approximately 7 kilometres away from the Ngombé lighthouse. The central zone and the buffer zone of the Eco-Lodge respectively have surfaces of 83.4 and 6871.6 hectares.

Within these zone can be found all of Pongara National Park’s typical ecosystems : the ocean, the beach, the mangroves, lagoons, savannah, coastal and humid tropical forests which all sustain cpecific vegetal and animal species.

Just an hour away from the city, you will (just like the locals) have the opportunity to observed varied species and types of habitats which make Pongara the pride of Gabon’s National Parks, but also a place where education and awareness to natural capital can be developped. The site could well become, in the near future, the most visited of the country.

Most visited – but under certain conditions : conservation efforts have to be respected and helped, and the local economy has be supported. The approach is that of an ecotourism, and more precisely in J.M. Casanova’s (Lodge manager) vision, a luxury ecotourism. In order to avoid mass tourism, the luxury factor is necessary.

If you’re looking an ethical approach, a sensible and intelligent experience of nature, allowing you not only to admire the spectacular biodiversity but also to understand it, then look no further. Welcome to Pongara Lodge.
