A TOURISM investment brochure distributed to investors at last week’s Northern Queensland Economic Summit will have to be corrected again after another mistake was discovered in the guide.
Tourism Minister Kate Jones intitally ordered the Queensland Tourism Investment Guide 2015-2016 be corrected after it was found to contain old photos of the Gold Coast and incorrectly captioned photos.
Now it will have to be corrected again after the Opposition revealed it also trumpets the development of the now defunct Bus and Rail Tunnel.
The BAT tunnel was due to be developed by the former Newman Government with the help of its asset privatisation plans.
But the Palaszczuk Government promptly dumped the dual transport tunnel on gaining office, committing instead to a rail-only crossriver rail project.
However it appears on page 11 of the guide, contained within a table of major infrastructure developments where the BAT tunnel is listed as “under study”.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Tourism Minister Kate Jones were quizzed on the error today with Ms Palaszczuk insisting crossriver rail remained the preferred project for her government.
Ms Jones defended the brochure, saying just 100 copies of the brochure were printed and handed at the summit last week.
“We have been working to ensure that it is updated and reflects the latest information,” she said.
She said none had to be destroyed following the mistakes.
Mr Springborg lashed Ms Jones for the error-ridden brochure.
“What the Minister for Tourism didn’t tell us was how she got her tourism investment strategy so wrong,” he said.
