UAE: Accor To Open Four New Hotels In The UAE

Accor Hotels, a French hotel chain, said on Wednesday that it has signed four new management agreements with Manazil Group for hotels in Dubai and Sharjah.

The property in Sharjah, which is currently under construction, will be an upscale hotel called Pullman Sharjah. The hotels in Dubai will be an upscale Majlis Grand Mercure, a midscale Mercure and a midscale Adagio aparthotel, all located in Jumeirah Village Triangle, according to a statement from Accor. The Pullman Sharjah is expected to open in 2018, while the Dubai properties, which aim to attract families and corporate travellers, will open in 2019.

“Accor Hotels still sees great demand from the UAE market, in accordance with official forecasts from Dubai Vision for Tourism which expects 20 million visitors annually by 2020, and the Sharjah Tourism Vision that aims to attract 10 million tourists by 2021,” Jean-Jacques Dessors, its chief operating officer for the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa, said in a statement.

The company will add over 1,300 new hotel rooms to the UAE market. Accor currently operates 76 hotels in the Middle East, with over 18,500 rooms across the luxury to economy segments. It also has 49 hotels under development in the region. This brings the total number of properties in operation and under development to 125 with around 32,000 rooms.
