German Tourist Dies In Roatan

The authorities confirmed Wednesday night the death of a German tourist in West Way, Roatan, Honduras in the Caribbean.

The victim was identified as Walter Ray Owen (69), who was practicing snorkeling, a water sport that involves swimming on the surface of the water with a breathing tube and flippers.

It was reported that Owen was swimming quietly, when about 200 meters repender heard the cry for help.

Relief workers in the area tried to save his life, but to get him to the mainland and had no vital signs.

In addition it was learned that the tide was high and that the time was not appropriate for snorkeling.

The victim enjoyed a few days of holiday in Roatan ago.
