Porter Airlines commenced operations between Toronto City (YTZ) and Pittsburgh (PIT) on 21 September. The 354-kilometre sector will operate twice-daily, except for Saturdays, when a single daily flight is scheduled. Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County Executive, commented at the launch by saying: “We’re very happy to welcome Porter to Allegheny County and are grateful for the company’s commitment to serving western Pennsylvania business and leisure travellers from Pittsburgh Airport.
Porter is the most recent example of the positive momentum that we’re seeing at the airport with both the numbers of flights and passengers continuing to grow.” The airport pair will be flown using the carrier’s Q400s and does not face direct competition, however the city pair will be flown alongside Air Canada, which operates services from Pittsburgh to Toronto Pearson.
