MONGOLIA: Air Traffic Over Mongolia Getting Busier

The Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia (MCAA) released a winter air traffic schedule. According to the schedule, MCAA has received 74,403 requests to conduct flights over the Mongolian airspace in 2015 by 48 international and Mongolian air carriers.

Based on the flight safety requirements, the MCAA granted 70,264 permits, of which 61,853 are regular international flights and 8,411 are reserved flight slots. Out of 4139 take-off and landing permissions, 2423 are planned to be international and 1716 are to be domestic flights.

Compared to 2013-2014 winter air traffic schedule, the current estimated number of over-flight passages through the Mongolian airspace is increased by 8.1%, international flights to/from Mongolia by 5% and domestic flights by 5%.

Previously, Mongolian air traffic control separation standard was reduced from 90 to 30 kilometres on September 18, 2014 following an review of the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia's safety assessment requirements.
