SUN-AIR commenced services from Aalborg (AAL) to Humberside (HUY) via Billund (BLL) on 17 April. Flights on the 752-kilometre link from Aalborg and Billund will operate twice-weekly on Fridays and Sundays onboard the British Airways franchise carraier’s Dornier 328 jet fleet.
Neither destination will see direct competition from Humberside. The route aims to further support the growing renewable energy industry in the Humber region of the UK by connecting the area with the Danish renewables hub.
“We were delighted to welcome VIP guests from Denmark into Humberside Airport after months of discussion to create better air connectivity with major players in the renewables industry.
Humberside Airport continues to work collaboratively with major businesses and organisations to provide further destinations which offer a choice to our customers and also create links with areas which will benefit the local economy,” commented Deborah Zost, MD of Humberside Airport.
SUN-AIR becomes the third scheduled carrier to serve the UK airport.
Eastern Airways connects the facility with multiple daily services to Aberdeen, while KLM offers flights to its Amsterdam hub from Humberside with 20 weekly flights.
