Thai AirAsia, local subsidiary of the Malaysian giant of cheap flight, announced two flights between mainland China and Pattaya airport in Thailand will become a new operational base.
On 25 and 26 September, Thai AirAsia will launch from U-Tapao Pattaya International Airport two new flights to China: to Nanning, capital of Guangxi in southern China, with four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi, three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The airport U-Tapao Pattaya, a former military base, will become the fifth basic Thai AirAsia in the country, after those of Bangkok Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Krabi.
"We believe that tourism in the East (Thailand) and Pattaya is growing very rapidly and U-Tapao airport is absolutely ready for regular flights," said Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia. Two Airbus A320 configured for 180 seats will be based in Pattaya, other cities and foreign countries being studied, according Tassapon Bijleveld.
Pattaya Airport does today welcomes two airlines: AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui and Phuket.
