USA: Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale Returns
Award-winning Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale will soon hit the market for the third consecutive year, signaling the fall season just around the corner and conjuring up images of falling leaves and football. The beloved beer was the first seasonal brew launched by Alltech Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. (http://www.kentuckyale.com/) in its barrel-aged seasonal series and won a gold medal at the 2014 World Beer Championships, with a score of 94 out of 100. It will slowly pour into the market this week, available on tap and in bottles.
Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale ages in fresh bourbon barrels, it picks up the sweetness of caramel and vanilla from the barrel, complementing its spicier base. The beer boasts a robust 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV).
“Seasonal beers are already extremely popular amongst craft beer fans. Pumpkin brews, like our Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale, tend to be some of the most popular,” said Jonathan Lang, general manager of Alltech Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. “Not only do pumpkin beers taste great, but you’re also getting into a time of year with a lot of fun outdoor events from football games to fall festivals, which just pair well with craft beer.”
Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale will be available in limited quantities regionally. It will be sold on draft and in 4-packs of bottles. Suggested retail price for the 4-pack is $14.99. Some retailers will again be offering collectible jack-o-lantern snifters along with the ale.
