USA: Silver City Brewery Releases Oktoberfest And Le Fat

Silver City Brewery announces the return of Oktoberfest Lager for the fall season and the 2015 release of Le Fat: Oak Barrel Aged Belgian Sour Scotch Ale.

Oktoberfest Lager

Celebrate the season with tradition and authenticity. This classic amber lager presents rich malty sweetness and spicy hop character. In Washington, we love the fall season; football kicks off, the weather starts to cool and an extensive variety of seasonal beers blow through like so many multi-colored leaves. In this storm of Pumpkin beers, Harvest Ales and other autumn-themed brews, Silver City Oktoberfest stands apart as one of the few proudly traditional styles of the season.

No tradition is done right without the highest quality ingredients and process. That’s exactly what Silver City Brewmaster Don Spencer and his brew team insists upon when crafting Silver City Oktoberfest.

Combine Don’s 20 plus years of professional experience brewing lager beer styles, his extensive “research” trips to Germany including Munich’s Oktoberfest, Silver City’s new, state-of-the-art brew system, and the finest hops and specialty malts from around the world and you have one of the highest quality, consistent, coveted and downright delicious fall offerings in the NW. Prost!

Hops: German Hersrbucker

Le Fat

Oak barrel-aged Belgian sour Scotch ale.

A batch over two years in the making, 2015 Le Fat was a scotch ale, but is a scotch ale no more. Belgian influences from a host of micro-organisms sour the once-sweet Fat Scotch Ale. Hints of fig, plum, and cherries occur naturally as a result. Over time the ale softens and mellows while gaining refinement and character through extended aging in oak barrels once used for winemaking.

Le Fat will be the first-ever Silver City Brewery beer to be released in 500ml packaging, a new standard for the barrel-aged series. Finished with a foil seal and a pearlescent label, the understated elegance is matched to the delicate nature of the flavors contained within.

A passion project for Silver City Brewery, brewmaster Don Spencer had this to say about Le Fat, “Each release of Le Fat is a true labor of love for the brew team and myself. There are so many man hours, components, and steps that go into the process of creating this sour ale.” He added, “To see Le Fat in its beautiful bottle, prepared for presentation after the long development process is personally very exciting. We’ve anxiously waited months, even years, and and are pleased to finally share this unique creation with our fans!”
