FIJI: Pinktober At Pearl

In an effort to contribute towards the fight against breast cancer, the Pearl South Pacific Resort in Pacific Harbour hosted guests to a Pinktober fundraiser at the hotel yesterday. The hotel’s general manager, Natalie Marletta, said breast cancer was a concern and they also wanted to contribute towards the fight.

“Last year we had about 100 people and this year we have 130 who turned up from all over Suva; a couple of them from Nadi to support the good cause,” she said.

“We are donating all proceeds to the Fiji Cancer Society.

“We feel very privileged with the support shown today and through the month of October we hope to raise $10,000.”

The hotel has other events lined up for the Pinktober month in order to reach the target or even to exceed it.

“Last year we raised $7000 and we’re hoping to get $10,000 if not more, and that would be fantastic,” she said.

“Personally I have a very close family member who has been through and still going through the battle,” she said.

“I think the Fiji Cancer society is doing a good job of creating awareness and fundraising is extremely important.

She has urged people to give generously to the Fiji Cancer Society to support the people with breast cancer. Society manager Belinda Chan thanked the resort for their efforts in supporting the cause.
