Air India Flight AI-0665, bounded from Delhi to Mumbai was due to take off from the Delhi airport terminal 3 at 8.00 am. But due to some operational reason the flight did not take off. When the passengers had a heated argument with the Air India counter staff as they waited to board the plane, on enquiring they came to know that the pilot of the flight did not turn up. The flight was scheduled to depart at 8.00am and arrive in Mumbai at 11.am, terminal 1A, but due to some functioning problem the flight got delayed.
Although Air India has the reputation of being not the best service provider, people still chose to travel via Air India, naturally ignoring the worst airlines tag. This particular incident has not happened with Air India for the first time. Even in the past, people have come across and experienced such muddled up situations.
With Air India tumbling down in huge losses and the government trying to make all the right moves to bail out this domestic carrier out of the turmoil. But with such colossal failure in conveyance the stature of Air India is degrading day in and day out.
Air India tops the list of passenger complaints lodged against Indian airlines in July this year with a total of 213 complaints. The air carriers have also been told to improve the quality of service particularly when the flights have been delayed or cancelled, but the situation continues to get worse. Almost 30 per cent of passenger complaints related to troubles with flight cancellations or delays have been reported, while about 25 per cent of passengers expressed discontentment over customer services of various airlines.
Also, their strategy to come up with ticket fare as low as Rs 100 ticket sales cannot help with the fact that the national carrier is known to rub the passengers in the wrong way. This recent incident will add to the long list of wretchedness and despair people have to go through when they choose Air India over other air lines.
