A cross on the koppie where the Marikana massacre took place. This Sunday marks the third anniversary of the massacre
Calls have been made to erect a monument for victims of the mass shooting at Marikana to mark the massacre's third anniversary which is on Sunday.
Senior ANC leader Enoch Godongwana has said the government officially commemorate those who died during the Marikana unrest.
Speaking for the survivors, the families of the dead and the community, the Marikana Support Campaign says a monument would be a welcome tribute.
Affected parties say they now consider the koppie, where the massacre took place, to be sacred ground.
