A worrying new trend is emerging in China where young men desperate to get the new iPone 6s are selling their kidneys.
Chinese media are reporting that a man named, Wu, reported to police in Nanjing, eastern China, that his friend, Huang, had gone missing following a failed organ sale.
The two friends were desperate to get hold of the new iPhone 6s, which costs upwards of 4,488 Yuan (£449) – about the average monthly salary in Nanjing.
They had pre-ordered the handsets, which were due to be delivered on September 12.
However they realised they would not have the money in time.
Huang reportedly told Wu they should sell their kidneys on a Chinese social media website called network QQ where they were offered between 100,000 Yuan (£10,000) and 200,000 Yuan (£20,000) depending on their blood type.
They found a buyer but when the two men went to meet them they did not turn up.
Wu reconsidered and tried to talk Huang out of the transaction.
But Huang ran away and has since disappeared.
The case comes as two other iPhone fans tried to rob a taxi driver after the sale of their kidneys fell through.
A less painful alternative is reportedly being offered by a sperm bank in Shanghai which is offering men 6,000 Yuan (£600) for 17ml of sperm.
Donors needs to be over 5 foot 5, have a university education and has no diseases or medical conditions.
