THAILAND: Well Planed Menu For Dinner

Healthy Twist Bangkok, which opened late last year as a breakfast and lunch venue, is now open from 11 am to 9 pm from Thursday to Saturday so that diners can enjoy a healthy end-of-the-week evening meal.

The restaurant is open from 7 am to 4 pm from Monday to Wednesday, and closed on Sunday.

The new opening times allow a greater showcase for the creative input of Chef Erik Halvardsson, who has joined owners Nam and Fon to broaden the range of healthy food and calorie-controlled meals.

Chef Erik, who is from Sweden, is a specialist in preparing nutritious cuisine, and he has introduced a Rational oven to the kitchen, allowing the preparation of a greater range of dishes.

“Rational ovens change the way a kitchen works,” says Chef Erik. “These are German-made ovens, and are used in the best fine-dining restaurants.

“What the Rational is allowing us to do at Healthy Twist is to open up the menu and go to new creative lengths, so that the original concept of Nam and Foncan be fully developed.”

Healthy Twist is offering a 20 percent discount on all food and desserts for dinner throughout September to encourage diners to sample the new menu.

The restaurant was created to offer mainly Western dishes prepared in a healthy way, switching some of the heavier and fattier ingredients and changing the cooking styles to make them lighter, healthier, and easier on the waistline without compromising the taste of the original dish.

Amongst the signature dishes is salmon steak with a caper cream sauce, the salmon cooked so that the inside is moist and the skin crispy, and served with homemade mashed potato and sautéed spinach.

Pizza laab chicken takes the concept of the Northeast Thailand favorite laab and turns it into a fabulous pizza, with chicken, spicy and sour dressing, fragrant Thai herbs and French mozzarella cheese on a homemade wafer-thin pizza. As Chef Erik says, “All the taste, half the calories.”

A Vietnamese specialty with a healthy twist is the fresh spring roll, made with crisp green apple and carrot with green oak lettuce, and served with spicy peanut sauce.

The Mediterranean is also represented on the menu, with a grilled vegetable salad, the vegetables perfectly cooked without being drenched in oil, and presented with lemon vinaigrette and grilled cheddar.

Available for breakfast, or for taking away, is freshly baked granola, 100 percent natural, and with the baking of enough for only 10 bags per batch in order to maintain quality.

Only whole rolled oats are used, sweetened with natural honey and raisins, and with no preservatives or dairy products. Customers ordering more than 10 bags can specify their own personalized recipes, and gift baskets are available for festive seasons and birthdays – a gift that will certainly be appreciated.

Healthy Twist Bangkok is located at33362/4 Rama 4 KlongtanKhlongtoeBangkok 10110. The restaurant has 36 seats and there is a private room on the third floor for up to 25 people. A projector is available to make this a suitable venue for company functions. The third floor has its own bathroom.
