USA: Arc Flash ISA By Paradise Creek Brewery
From the eastern reaches of the state comes word of a new, seasonally inspired beer from Paradise Creek Brewery. The brewery, located in Pullman, just announced the release of its Arc Flash ISA. Here’s the release notice.
Paradise Creek Announces Seasonal Release of Arc Flash I.S.A.
Seasonally inspired by an aromatic hoppiness with a moderate ABV, Arc Flash is a sublime session ale for extended periods of beer-enjoyment!
In recent years, the pseudo-style of session ales have become familiar favorites among craft beer drinkers who crave the complexity of small-batch brews, but want to enjoy more than one without feeling the effects of higher ABV’s (alcohol by volume). It’s pretty straightforward when you think about it but due to the nature (and chemistry) of brewing, capturing the flavors of a malty body to balance an elevated hop flavor without introducing too many fermentables can be a tricky feat. Starting September
14th, fans can look forward to tasting an incredibly complex and truly Pacific Northwest in hop-style ale which can be enjoyed more than once in a single session. That seasonal offering, Arc Flash, will start arriving in 22-ounce bottles and on draft to select retailers in Washington State and Idaho where Paradise Creek beer is sold.
More than a year ago, Paradise Creek Brewmaster Tom Handy imagined the challenge of creating a truly unique session ale with an energetic malt-hop harmony that will shock craft beer enthusiasts expecting a more “ABV-appropriate” light flavor. Before deciding on the final formulation for Paradise Creek Arc
Flash, the brewing team of Tom and Keith Tyler evaluated a number of prototypes and similar styles already in the market. It was ultimately decided that the new seasonal release would feature a malt body reminiscent of a red ale with the citrusy aromatics familiar to many Pacific Northwest IPAs.
“Engineering the recipe for a session beer that didn’t taste at all like a session beer was a really big project for us,” explains Handy. “Our fan base is shared by loyal fans of Washington State football teams, spending many hours watching weekend games with a thirst for a winning beer. We believe we’ve created something that will satisfy people’s palates while fulfilling their desire for a craft beer that’s a little easier on the alcohol.”
A blend of Cascade, Mosaic, Citra and Falconer’s Flight hops from Yakima Valley delivers a contemporary mix of earthy, citrusy and fruity aromatics with a substantial bitterness that’s backed by the amber-red body from the Crystal, Carafa and Pale malts.
The release of Arc Flash ISA will kick off with a series of events at the brewpub in Pullman, Washington on Monday, September 14th and continue in markets across the Inland Northwest where Paradise Creek distributes.
