AUSTRIA: Austrian Airlines To Receive First Embraer 195

Austrian Airlines is about to take possession of its first Embraer 195 on 17 it must receive from another subsidiary of the parent company Lufthansa CityLine.

The first Embraer 120 seats will be used initially for training purposes before operating its first commercial flight in January 2016, a second aircraft to join its fleet in September.

Austrian Airlines acquired a total of 17 Embraer E-195, at list prices which are worth nearly 900 million. Aged four years on average, they will gradually replace its aging fleet of Fokker 70 and 100, mean age of 21 years. A Gain consumption by 18% per seat is expected by the company.

About 200 pilots will be trained Austrian to fly the Embraer, the Austrian company has leased two Embraer E-170 with Estonian Air crew training for this process. But if the training program proves challenging, it also led to a shortage of pilots in late July with the cancellation of 70 flights.
