MALAYSIA: New Malaysia Airlines Permitted To Fly

The new Malaysia Airlines (Malaysia Airlines Berhad) has received from the authorities of the Malaysian Civil Aviation's operator certificate, just in time to officially begin the start of operations on 1 September 2015 from Kuala Lumpur.

The Air Operator's Certificate was obtained after months of audit including airworthiness operations, MRO compliance or regulatory compliance, said the new Malaysia Airlines. Launched in July, the new MAB company Malaysia Airlines Berhad (NewCo) represents the basis for a financial package to transfer the assets of the former Malaysia Airlines, Malaysian Airline System Berhad (MAS), placed last May in receivership .

Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport Malaysia, said that obtaining the operator's certificate was "an important step in the evolution of the (new) national airline of Malaysia", assuring that his government s 'pledged that the "new Malaysia Airlines, rejuvenated, can take off on a good note."

Let's remember that the former Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been bought by the Malaysian Khazanah Nasional sovereign fund last year to 1.5 billion euros, after several quarters of weak performance and the deadweight loss of two aircraft Triple Seven, after disappearances MH17 MH370 and the successive flights last year.

This transition was also "one of the twelve points of the restructuring plan" announced last August, Khazanah Nasional precise, which also provides for the abolition of 6000 to 8000 positions. According to local newspapers, the weight loss program could be even more severe with up to 20,000 laid-off employees. The cost of the restructuring is estimated at $ 1.7 billion - not to mention the expected compensation for the families of victims of the two crashes.
