Iran said on Monday that visa will be issued at airports for tourists for three-month stay and visa requirement with 28 countries will be cancelled in near future.
Vice-President and head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Soltanifar said that considering waves of foreign tourists coming to Iran in the past two years, ICHHTO decided to issue tourist visa at the airport for three-month stay.
The VP said that citizens of 190 countries may receive tourist visa at airports.
He said that considering a great demand of foreign tourists, especially from Muslim and Arab states, the Foreign Ministry and ICHHTO made coordination to get approval of the cabinet ministers on July 3, 2016 to issue tourist visa at the airports for three-month stay.
The VP said that facilitation for issuing visa for tourists is one of most important indications for growth in tourism industry.
Soltanifar said that currently visa being issued at nine airports of IKIA (Tehran), Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashad, Tabriz, Bandar Abbas, Larestan, Kish and Qeshm Islands.
Meanwhile, facilities are preparing at airports of Orumiyeh, Ahvaz, Yazd and Tehran Mehrabad Airport as well.
He said that Iran has currently reciprocal visa cancellation agreement with 12 states and that 28 countries are on the agenda for visa cancellation with reciprocity by the respective governments.
