RUSSIA: Aeroflot Orders 100 Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100

Russia’s flag carrier Aeroflot has placed order for 100 Sukhoi Superjet 100, The aircraft has a current price tag of up to $28 million USD.

The short to medium range aircraft has a carry capacity of up to 108 passengers but Aeroflot has opted for a 2 class configuration with 12 business class seats and 75 economy.

The SSJ 100 is Russia’s competitor to Airbus 220 and Embraer E jet series which has failed to really develop into a popular aircraft with only 169 built as of July 2018.

Aeroflot will start receiving its order from 2019 until 2026, on average of 14 per year, currently Aeroflot operates a total of 49 fleet of SSJ100.

Boeing 737-800 to Aeroflot. 158-seat narrow-body aircraft (MSN 41221) arrived to its operational base – Moscow Sheremetyevo airport.

The 40th Boeing 737-800 to join the fleet of the Russian flag carrier’s fleet, the VQ-BHD, is to enter commercial operations in coming days.

All the Boeing 737-800’s in Aeroflot’s fleet with seating 20 passengers in Business class and 138 in Economy Class – is powered by CFM International CFM56-7 engines and is equipped with fuel-saving wing tips.

Aeroflot’s previously delivered Boeing 737-800 started revenue service at the end of last week, with another new narrow-body, an Airbus A320-200 arrived directly from European manufacturer as recently as 4 days ago.

Introduction of brand new aircraft with simultaneous phasing out of older airplanes, allows for Aeroflot to claim that its fleet is one of the youngest in the world among airlines with active passenger aircraft fleet of more than 100 units.

The average age of an aircraft is only 4 years.

Aeroflot operates a fleet of 235 passenger aircraft, which including 16 Boeing 777-300ERs, 22 Airbus A330-200/300s, 40 Boeing 737-800s, 115 Airbus A320 family aircraft and 42 Russian-made Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jets.

Aeroflot transported 2.6 million passengers in March 2018, a 6.3 per cent growth year-over-year.
